What is ZELVA

ZELVA is an independent botanical design studio based in Melbourne.

We work in the quiet relationship between nature, scent and the person experiencing it.

Working with pure essential oils and carefully selected botanical ingredients, we create compositions for both space and self, designed to support the rhythm of everyday life while delivering a refined and elegant scent experience.

How it started

Long before there was a brand, there were simply two curious people exploring the role natural scent could play in everyday life.

What began with a growing interest in essential oils gradually became a shared fascination with the way aroma influences the feeling of a home, a moment and even the rhythm of daily life. As our curiosity grew, so did our understanding. We found ourselves creating blends for different times of day, exploring how scent could bring clarity, calm, warmth or renewed energy.

Coming from a background in design, we naturally approached scent in the same way we approached materials, light and objects. Rather than thinking in terms of perfumes or trends, we became fascinated by how aroma could shape the experience of a space, a moment and even the way we move through the day.

Over time, that curiosity evolved into ZELVA, a botanical design studio built around the relationship between scent and experience.

Today, we continue to work at the intersection of nature, scent and everyday life, creating compositions designed not only for spaces, but also for the moments and states that move through them.

What we design

We create compositions using pure essential oils, selecting each ingredient for its natural quality, aromatic character and the role it plays within the blend.

Every formula is developed with intention, balancing botanical knowledge with a refined scent experience that feels clean, elegant and made to live with every day.

Our collections are structured around the changing rhythm of the day, with compositions created for morning, daytime, evening and night.

Some are designed to bring freshness, clarity and movement. Others introduce softness, balance, warmth or deeper rest. Some are created for the atmosphere of a room, while others are designed to be carried with you.

Together, they form a collection of scent experiences that move through different spaces, moments and states throughout the day.

How We Work

Every composition begins with the experience we want to create.

We consider the relationship between scent, atmosphere and daily life, carefully selecting natural materials for both their aromatic qualities and the role they play within the blend.

Balance is central to our process. We focus on how a composition unfolds over time, how it feels in use, and how individual ingredients work together to create a harmonious whole.

Each formula is made in small batches in Melbourne, using pure essential oils and carefully selected botanical ingredients.
